What I Woke Up To After Surgery

This past month was a nightmare for me. No, it wasn't because of the terribly long lines in stores because of the holidays; it was because of my toe. Not many people can say they have problems with their toes but my big toes are not my friends. For the past year, I've been having such problems with them that it's caused me not to wear shoes at times. So I finally bit the bullet and went to a podiatrist last week. So when I arrived in my slippers he checked my feet and told me the lovely news that I needed surgery on my one toe.

Oh what fun. Wait, there's more!

I had my surgery last week right before the holidays too. So when I went to have the surgery, my whole family was there to make sure I would be alright. And it's a good thing they came too because I had some sort of reaction to the numbing medicine I got.

Well, after I got the medicine, I got really woozy and didn't really realize anything until it was all said and done. Then I remember my husband helping me to sit in the car and take me home eventually. Well once I got home, I was still very woozy so when I went to take off my slippers, I noticed that my toe was actually looking back at me.

This is what I saw:

When I asked the doctor about it a few days later, he told me now my toe is a happy toe. Very sweet sentiment, but note to doctor:
"Never draw a face on someone's bandage without telling them - especially when they're drugged up on anesthetics."

Needless to say, when I screamed and my family came to see what happened, they just laughed at me and my poor happy toe. Oh yeah, and Mary named my toe Beethoven.

I'm so glad last week is over...
